"The common weal" nghĩa là gì?

"The common weal" có weal là hạnh phúc, sung sướng -> từ này nghĩa là lợi ích cộng đồng.

No one will be able to fill his pockets in Parliament (quốc hội). And politics that are no longer inspired by private interests, but by solicitude (ước ao) for the common weal, are not politics but, as we said, applied science. 

He said that "science must be put into the common weal. "It is urgent (khẩn cấp) to help the countries that have fewer vaccines, but it must be done with far-sighted plans, not motivated only by the haste of the well-off countries in wanting to be safer".

They don’t seem to have acted as an organized group, but their speeches and writings clearly reveal the presence of a strong current of anti-capitalist (chống tư bản) opinion in England in the mid-1500s. Because they focused on the common weal — common good — historians have labelled them the commonwealth men.

As Wedgwood explained to Bentley, he opposed “Old Corruption”—the system of well-paid government jobs and sinecures (địa vị ngồi mát ăn bát vàng) attacked by his hero John Wilkes—and he longed for “integrity in office and a passion for the common weal.”
