Xin lỗi sếp em đến muộn

tàu hỏa bị dừng vì... đàn rết... :D

Working together, these small beasties (around 3 cm or 1.18 inches long) - which play a large role cycling nitrogen in Japan's larch forests (rừng thông) - have forced trains to come to a skidding halt.

Up until now, scientists weren't quite sure what was causing them to swarm with such peculiar regularity, but a 50-year research project has finally confirmed that the species - Parafontaria laminata armigera (P. l. a.) - exists on a rare eight-year life cycle.

This confirmation is incredibly exciting, as cicadas (ve sầu) are the only other known periodical animals with lifespans this long.

“If you can't be good, be careful" nghĩa là gì?

“If you can't be good, be careful” = nếu không tốt thì hãy cẩn thận -> (lời cảnh báo) nghĩa là nếu làm điều xấu xa hay trái đạo đức thì phải đảm bảo nó không nguy hiểm hoặc phải bí mật. Đôi khi cũng được dùng để nói tạm biệt một cách khiếm nhã.

Ví dụ
Somebody bade me farewell with the cliche: “Don’t do anything that I wouldn’t do”, laughing hysterically before following it up with the side-splitting, “If you can’t be good, be careful”. Oh, tee bloody hee. Golly gosh, I hadn’t heard that one before.

There are messages, of a sort, and they are essentially those of the original: Be true to yourself, be true to your friends, be true to your school, be good and if you can’t be good be careful and, the new series would add, if you can’t be careful be rich. “Having money can make you act like a jerk,” Mac tells Daisy, “but fortunately you can just use more money to clean up the mess you made. It’s the circle of wealth …. You look conflicted. Let me give you some money.”

Mauro was a soft-spoken man of few words, however, those words were mighty and wise. His sage wisdom included, “Be good. If you can't be good, be careful”, and “Behind the clouds, the sun is still shining”. He was generous to a fault with his time and energy and rarely accepted much deserved accolades (sự ôm hôn). He showed his love for others by doing and serving. His mission to feed anyone within his reach is legendary, as are his recipes for adobo, pork broccoli, and the infamous fish head soup.

"A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle" nghĩa là gì?

"A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle" = người tự gói mình lại là người rất nhỏ -> nghĩa là không ai thích người tự cao, tự đại cả.

Ví dụ
Taking ourselves way too seriously, are we? Blessed are those who are legends (huyền thoại) in their own minds for they shall always have someone to worship. A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle. – Benjamin Franklin.

"A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle." -- Benjamin Franklin. There's no simple remedy (phương thuốc) to get over the seemingly detrimental (thiệt hại) feeling of being ghosted (hiện ra) completely out of the blue, but hopefully these captions are your gateway to forgetting the fool that let you go. Words are power, so get yours out there and bring on the shade ASAP.

“A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle.” Benjamin Franklin. Self-absorbed (chỉ quan tâm đến bản thân) people have a habit of focusing on their own issues, problems and stories to the detriment (thiệt hại) of themselves and others. Being so self-centered, they tend to blow problems out of proportion, create unnecessary drama, dominate conversations with their stories, and push people away with a constant need for attention.

"Not if I can help it" nghĩa là gì?

"Not if I can help it" -> nghĩa là tôi sẽ không làm việc đó đâu, sẽ không để việc đó xảy ra đâu.

Ví dụ
Quote of the weekend: 'BBC just said this was 'sobering (chín chắn) news'. Not if I can help it,' said Simon Blackwell, co-writer of political satire (châm biếm) The Thick Of It, after the announcement that Boris had cancelled Christmas.

“I was five days in Raigmore when the doctor came to me and told me that he was going to put me to sleep. I asked him if I was going to die, and he said, ‘No, not if I can help it.’ "I phoned Alan and I phoned my sister Elizabeth, and told them what was going to happen. Alan was struggling with his health at home, and then I was put to sleep.

“We’re not going to let this get out of control, not if I can help it, but I need everyone to pitch in (phối hợp) – especially on the days when you don’t want to.” De Villa joined CP24 on Wednesday afternoon to answer coronavirus-related questions.

Now that I’ve had a break and I’m back to full fitness, I’m dusting down (tiếp tục thử lại sau khi thất bại) the cv. If I can’t get a full-time job in coaching, I’ll do something part-time. I’m not going to finish just yet, not if I can help it.

"Report for duty" nghĩa là gì?

"Report for duty" -> nghĩa là xuất hiện, đến nơi để làm việc, nhiệm vụ hoặc các mục đích khác.

Ví dụ
About 350 National Guardsmen will report for duty in North Carolina, beginning this weekend, to support state and local authorities and "protect the well-being (ấm no hạnh phúc) of residents, property, and the right to peacefully assemble and protest."

Pvt. Richard Halliday, 21, was last seen on July 23 of last year leaving his barracks (doanh trại) room. He failed to report for duty the next day and the unit (đơn vị) to which he’s assigned reported him missing.

The sanitation (làm sạch) workers chose to report for duty as they were the sole (đơn lẻ) earning members of family. The women stayed at a shelter home on the hospital’s premises.

All agency heads are responsible (chịu trách nhiệm) for determining (xác định) those essential personnel (nhân viên) who should remain on duty, report for duty or those who should report to alternate work sites as necessary. Officials continue to monitor conditions throughout the state, and this announcement may be updated.
