"Chardonnay socialist" nghĩa là gì?

"Chardonnay socialist" có chardonnay là loại nho trắng để làm rượu sâm-panh -> từ này nghĩa là người tán thành lý tưởng chủ nghĩa xã hội trong khi đang có cuộc sống giàu có, sang trọng.

Ví dụ
This week I had a chat with my family communist. He is a common, garden variety, lesser spotted red. Your average (trung bình), every day, Chardonnay socialist. My Comrade is a great person who I like immensely. He is highly educated, comes from the usual privileged background (gia thế) as do most Chardonnay socialists and he believes that “Manual Labour” was a Hollywood actor from the 1940s.

The concept (khái niệm) has been widely adopted, prompting several variations on the theme, including "limousine liberal," "chardonnay socialist," "champagne socialist," and "armchair revolutionary."

They have scaled up a bit, but they need to be building more than 7,000 homes a year in Auckland, not a couple of thousand. By the way, I don’t appreciate (thích) the ‘Grey Lynn’ slur. I actually live in South Auckland, where there’s lots of social housing. I suggest you might be the ‘chardonnay socialist’ that your slur implies if you think this level of social house construction is anywhere enough.

Interesting. One of the key points is "nothing hurts the poor and middle class like inflation". Last 12 months it really  looks like Labour is allowing its core voting block to get hammered by inflation (thổi phống) to protect their rental portfolios. PM and Deputy must be fans of the term chardonnay socialist. Shameful.
