"Dad Thriller" nghĩa là gì?

"Dad Thriller" = phim cho các ông bố -> nghĩa là dòng phim Hollywood được làm từ những năm 90 có cốt truyện thú vị, ly kì, hướng tới đối tượng khán giả nam ở độ tuổi trung niên.

Ví dụ
A recent edition of Max Read's newsletter presented what he called "notes toward a theory of the Dad Thriller" — an aesthetic (có thẩm mỹ) discussion of a unique filmic subgenre that, though common, has not been sufficiently defined by critics. Enter: the Dad Thriller. You know the type of shit, that Dads just love.

Copshop is a by-the-numbers Dad Thriller – an overly macho (đại trượng phu) cop story designed to attract the crowd that made Liam Neeson an action star. Obviously, there is an audience for this and just because something has grunt doesn’t mean it’s not entertaining.

Not really, because the movie has the reek (mùi nồng nặc) of something spoiled already, and if you’ve fallen asleep to director Brian A. Miller’s lame mercenary-dad thriller “The Outsider,” it’s the same movie all over again — even the tag-along hot girl accessory the hero picks up at a bar — yet with no appreciable effort to make the warehouse of action clichés in Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore’s script any more entertaining or less dumb.

It should hardly surprise you that Taken hasn’t exactly aged well, but it is a little crazy how much of an extremely specific 2008 time capsule the Liam Neeson rescue/revenge dad thriller.
