The world is still coping with a pandemic believed to have resulted from the appalling conditions animals were kept in at a wet market in China, which created the ideal breeding grounds for COVID-19 to leap into humans and start mutating.
Discounting all the hard, coarse and chunky roughage (thức ăn khô), the plants that can be used to make good, tasty and edible dishes are still plentiful. A relaxing stroll inside a wet market or a cool supermarket should be able to convince anyone that plant-based edibles such as leafy vegetables, roots and fruit vegetables are still overflowing the shelves.
The two predominant (có nhiều khả năng/chiếm ưu thế) theories about the origin of COVID-19 are the “lab-leak” theory and the “wet market” theory. The latter received some extra credibility with the publication of three new studies. In the lab-leak theory, the virus, likely originating in bats, was studied at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in Wuhan, China, and somehow escaped. The wet market theory supposes that the virus originated in bats, jumped to an intermediary animal at the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan, and then to humans. The wet market theory is consistent with other coronavirus epidemics, primarily SARS and MERS. The evidence supporting the two theories, largely circumstantial, has been split about 50/50.
