Women are the fair sex, or the fairer sex, a term we hear less and less, if at all. We no longer judge women only by their looks, at least we shouldn’t but why did we use this expression?

The jury (bồi thẩm đoàn) has augured an end to the #MeToo movement, a toxic female-fueled revolution that got drunk on its own reckless (liều lĩnh) and absolute power. Beneath its veneer (lớp mặt) of protecting, usually, the fairer sex from physical, mental and sexual harm, #MeToo has morphed into a monster, a massive, blunt instrument used to punish sometimes innocent people who’ve generally had the misfortune of being born with XY chromosomes.

The panelists in two sessions (phiên họp) -- ‘Women’s rights and legal gaps’ and ‘Under-representation of women in decision-making bodies’ -- on the second day of the National Women Legislators Conference 2022, organised (tổ chức) by the Kerala assembly, urged the woman legislators  to voice their concerns so that the welfare of the fairer sex is heard.
