"Ve haf vays" nghĩa là gì?

"Ve haf vays" là cách phát âm theo tiếng Đức của 'we have ways' -> câu đe dọa hài hước 'bọn ta có đủ mọi cách để khiến ngươi nói'. Câu này có nguồn gốc từ các chiến thuật thấm vấn được dùng ở Đức vào thời Thế chiến II.
Ví dụ
The BBC1 drama SS-GB has just concluded (kết luận), its eerie (kỳ quái) vision of what a German-occupied Britain might have looked like in 1941 only slightly undermined by the sound quality — ‘ve haf vays of making you mumble’.
But Brits who have bothered to learn our language can attest (làm chứng) that we are capable — if pressed we might even say “ve haf vays” — of being funny deliberately.
The company also included Anton Diffring, Victor Beaumont and Ferdy Mayne, all three so firmly typecast (phân vai) as screen Nazis that it was hard to imagine them saying anything other than ‘I must varn you... escape from Colditz is impossible’ or ‘Ve haf vays of making you talk’.
