"Potemkin village" nghĩa là gì?

"Potemkin village" = ngôi làng Potemkin -> nghĩa là báo cáo láo, hay điều gì có vẻ ngoài bóng loáng để che lấp sự thật tồi tệ bên trong; 'được mỗi cái mã ngoài'. Câu này có nguồn gốc từ bộ trưởng Nga Potemkin, là người tình của nữ hoàng Nga, và là người chịu trách nhiệm bình định và tái thiết Crimea khi vùng đất này Đế quốc Nga lấy về từ Đế quốc Ottoman. Khi nữ hoàng Nga đi thăm phương Nam, tức Crimea, Potemkin sợ quá bèn lập ra các làng giả (nông dân, nhà cửa, gia súc giàu có sung túc) để diễn cho nữ hoàng xem khi bà này "cưỡi tàu thủy xem hoa".
