Ví dụ
Decentralized (phân quyền) social media is the latest Silicon Valley trend, yet the underlying business model of these initiatives remains the same. Personal data is sold to advertisers in a form of surveillance capitalism that compromises (dàn xếp, thỏa hiệp) our privacy and monetizes (tiền tệ hóa) our interactions. It is consumption disguised as participation.
Because their focus changes semiannually (nửa năm một lần), you can date almost any piece of technofeudalist criticism by the breathless industry claims it cites. Surveillance Capitalism is only a few years old, for example, but Zuboff’s concern about Facebook’s plans to pivot (xoay quanh, chuyển sang) to organic videos — a famously failed strategy, founded on the firm’s fibs about user engagement — was already moot by the time of publication.
Industrial capitalism is appropriation of land, labour, capital and other resources to produce products/services and sell them for profit. Surveillance capitalism is appropriation of user/citizen data and conversion to prediction product without awareness and informed consent of the user, and sell them for profit. This business model is pursued by Big Tech/fintech. They have started selling this data to digital advertisers and it has now extended to other sectors including political campaigns (chiến dịch chính trị).
