"Lady Bountiful" nghĩa là gì?

"Lady Bountiful" có bountiful là rộng lượng, hào phóng -> từ này nghĩa là người phụ nữ tham gia vào các hoạt động từ thiện chỉ để phô trương, gây ấn tượng với người khác chứ không thật sự quan tâm đến những người gặp khó khăn.

During the pandemic (đại dịch), the Bank’s Governor Andrew Bailey acted like Lady Bountiful, pouring (rót) hundreds of billions of pounds into the economy and keeping interest rates ultra-low at just 0.1 per cent.
One newspaper described (miêu tả) her as “Lady Bountiful” because of her gracious generosity (hào phóng) to those less fortunate. For five years, from 1930 to 1935, thousands of grateful women and children received nourishing (bổ dưỡng) hot meals in dignified (có giá trị) surroundings.
Her biography (lý lịch), by former CAM director Millard F. Rogers Jr., is called “Rich in Good Works.” The title is from I Timothy 6:18, “Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, and to be generous and ready to share.” Cincinnati’s “Lady Bountiful” no doubt committed that verse to heart. And we are all the better for it.
