"Firehouse primary" có primary là hội nghị tuyển lựa ứng cử viên -> từ này nghĩa là buổi lễ bổ nhiệm ứng cử viên được tổ chức và giám sát bởi tổ chức địa phương chứ không thuộc chính quyền.
