As trends (xu hướng) like “thrift flipping” — where consumers find unique ways to repurpose (dùng lại) secondhand goods — rack up 2.6 billion views on the app, TikTok has become a treasure trove for upcycling hacks for thrifted clothes.

One of the main issues with thrift flipping is that the people doing it are often buying clothes in bulk, lessening the number of clothes available for those who tend to only buy a few pieces.

Thrift shopping has risen in popularity over the past decade or so and flipping is unfortunately right behind. Thrift flipping should be done in moderation (điều độ) as it can often take clothes from those who really need them.

Green Living defines a thrift flip as “when you take old clothing and accessories (phụ kiện) and turn it into something new” and says that when you do, “you’re actually thrifting, flipping, upcycling, and ‘shopping’ all at once!”
