"English fever" nghĩa là gì?

"English fever" = cơn sốt tiếng Anh -> nghĩa là mong muốn mãnh liệt được học và thuần thục tiếng Anh, cho bản thân hoặc cho con cái.
Ví dụ
South Asia is a highly multilingual (đa ngôn ngữ) region, and English is the most dominant (thống trị) language. Because English is considered a ‘key’ to social upward mobility (tính năng động), almost every parent/person has the ‘English fever.’
Still, with so much spending based on South Korea's notorious "English fever," surely there must be a nice payoff to show for it.
"Vietnam has been afflicted with ‘English fever’ for quite some time," said Mark Ashwill, an American educator who has lived and worked in Vietnam for over a decade, "with parents of means sending their young children to English centers in the hopes that a knowledge of English will give them a leg up academically and, in the future, professionally."
