"Family skeleton" nghĩa là gì?

"Family skeleton" = bộ xương gia đình -> nghĩa là bí mật xấu xa, nỗi ô nhục của gia đình, dòng tộc; vết nhơ gia đình.

One of the epigraphs (đề từ) in the book is a quote from George Bernard Shaw: “If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance.” I think that’s my answer: I wanted to make my mother dance again.
The ACA news is poignantly (đau nhói) timed. Earlier this week, in a crass bit of family skeleton digging, the New York Post revealed that New York City mayoral hopeful Bill de Blasio's father died of a self-inflicted (tự gây ra) gunshot wound – while he was dying. In a statement, de Blasio confirmed, "My father tragically ended his life while battling terminal cancer in 1979." And speaking to WNYC, he added, "It was an unbelievable, incredibly difficult moment in life. We all thought we would be saying goodbye in some more traditional way, and suddenly he was gone."
