"Yank your chain" nghĩa là gì?

Thánh quậy phá là đây. Photo by VisionPic .net from Pexels

"Yank/pull/jerk (one's) chain" = kéo/ giật dây xích (dây chuyền) ->trêu đùa, quấy phá ai.

Ví dụ
Maybe the point is just to yank your chain, which amuses (giải trí) someone who trolls you pretending to be Nicki or whoever.

Unfriend, mute or otherwise erect (dựng) an electronic barrier (hàng rào điện tử) against snide provocateurs (khiêu khích ác ý) who are trying to yank your chain.

They’ll waste your time, pull your chain, ask questions already clearly answered in the ad, and offer you swaps (đổi) for the kind of junk (đồ đồng nát) no-one in their right mind has any business owning.

Jared Padalecki was contrite (hối hận) Sunday about missing the Supernatural DC 2019 Convention this past weekend, but “Supernatural” costar Jensen Ackles was more than willing the day before to yank his buddy’s chain about his recent assault (tấn công) arrest in Texas.

"Chain of command" nghĩa là gì?

Trên bảo dưới phải nghe! Photo by Pressmaster from Pexels

"Chain of command" = chuỗi chỉ huy -> ban bệ những người có thẩm quyền, lãnh đạo các cấp.

Ví dụ
"We don't want sick sailors (thủy thủ) on our ships right now," Flanders said. "If sailors are feeling ill, they should notify (báo tin) their chain of command."

The officials claim CSEA unit President Dominick D’Alisera, a police dispatcher (người điều vận), broke the chain of command by bypassing (bỏ qua) the Department of Public Works (Bộ Công chính) chief when he reported union members' concerns about the virus and cleaning up the DPW building to a supervisor (giám sát viên), according to union spokeswoman Jessica Ladlee.

“There are an infinite number of what-if scenarios (kịch bản giả định),” Pentagon officials said in a statement (tuyên bố). “To cover them all, it is most appropriate to say local commanders will follow service guidelines to implement the restrictions (hạn chế). Decisions will be made that consider each command’s mission (nhiệm vụ) and the individual’s needs. “Service members should discuss their individual situations (tình huống cá nhân) with their chain of command.”

"Daisy chain" nghĩa là gì?

Kết nối tạo nên sức mạnh. Photo by XXSS IS BACK from Pexels

Connect multiple monitors (màn hình) and Thunderbolt 3 devices thanks daisy-chain support and use multiple screens up to 3 screens simultaneously (đồng thời).

The daisy chain, for example, is a circle of oral sex (quan hệ bằng miệng) between three partners. Although, honestly, unless you have a king size bed, this particular position might end up on the floor for space purposes.

“They’re tiny; you can start with one and daisy-chain them together to have 50 inches of light on a boat or vehicle and then pop one out, put a battery (pin) on it and have a search and rescue light,” Morris said. “That sort of modular design is something we expect to be revolutionary (cách mạng).”

On Wednesday night, the president called into Fox News to put the nation’s mind at ease (thoải mái). In an effort to do so, he reeled off a breathtaking (ná thở) two-minute daisy chain of false claims (tuyên bố sai lầm) about the virus, including that it’s so benign (bệnh nhẹ) that infected (bị nhiễm) Americans should keep going into work.

"Meet his death" nghĩa là gì?

Thôi tiêu tui rồi! Photo courtesy: Geert Weggen

"Meet one's death/end" = gặp thần chết -> chết một cách đặc biệt nào đó.

Ví dụ
Strange coincidence (trùng hợp), the same place where Whitton had met his death.

Instead of blasting (nổ tung) the murderous Xenomorph into space and putting herself and Jones the cat into hypersleep, Scott wanted Ripley to meet her death in the 1979 original.

In those 15 years of struggling with addiction, I didn't believe I'd ever get out. I didn't think I could let go of the shame. I felt incapable of telling the truth. I thought I was a monster. I was sure I'd meet my end in overdose or by suicide. But here I am.

Coming from the developers of Minit, Disc Room is a sci-fi dungeon crawler (thám hiểm hang động) that immediately makes it clear that you will inevitably meet your death--quite often. As a reimagining (làm lại) of the developer's game released on itch.io in 2016, the new take on the hardcore dungeon-crawling dodger places you in the role of an interstellar (giữa các vì sao) scientist who has to explore a massive underground network filled with rooms lined with killer buzzsaws (lưỡi cưa).

"It's your funeral" nghĩa là gì?

Từ từ thôi nha ông! Photo courtesy: DocChewbacca

"It's someone's funeral" = coi chừng là đám tang của mi đó -> cảnh báo ai đó sẽ phải chịu trách nhiệm về hành động/quyết định dại dột của mình.

Ví dụ
On the other hand, you, being the soul of intrepidity (gan dạ), might want to set sail for Other Sausage Land and concoct (pha chế) your sausage gravy with something a bit more adventurous. Something like hot Italian sausage or a Cajun andouille (xúc xích đen). You could even try a (Yipes!) blood sausage like kishka, morcilla or Irish black pudding. Go ahead: It’s your funeral.

As they say though, it’s their funeral, but this ends up hurting us all in turn. Hardly anyone cares about how endowment funds (quỹ đầu tư cho một mục đích nào đó) do, although putting more of this money to work would benefit the stock market to be sure, and all of us that are invested in it in turn. If institutions like endowments and pension funds really wished to succeed, we’d all be better off, including them, but you have to want it first.

We’ll take on books because we love certain creators and want to do business with certain creators. I don’t know if Eric [Stephenson] gives creators the same talk I used to about iconic visuals, strong hooks, readable logos and easily pronounceable titles but I sure used to. If a creator insists on something lousy (tệ hại)--it’s their funeral. The real drag (trở ngại) in all this is that some decent creators have found limited success on their own and have gone crawling back to other companies because creator-owned comics are, for them, unviable (không tồn tại được).

"The longest pole knocks the persimmon" nghĩa là gì?

Hãy trở thành người như anh. Photo by The Lazy Artist Gallery from Pexels

"The longest pole knocks the persimmon" = cây gậy dài nhất mới chọc được quả hồng vàng -> thành công sẽ dễ dàng đến với người có công cụ, tiềm lực tốt nhất trong tay mình.

Ví dụ
I wish the man that started it had had his head sawed (cưa) off a cross-cut, just afore (before) he thought on't! Now that's sense in short cards. All's fair, and cheat (gian lận) and cheat alike is the order; and the longest pole knocks down the persimmon.

I don't know how it is in your part of the country, but in our'n, ' the longest pole knocks down the persimmons.' And tell ye what, it takes a tol'ble long pole to make a livin' in the Indian department (ban ngành). But I guess I ain't done so bad for the Injun.

Accordingly in the shops could be found bushels of Connecticut pins and case of Massachusetts shoes marked "London", elegant felt hats (mũ phớt) from New York labelled "Paris", and good, old Irish whiskey from New Jersey; for there were many articles (bài báo) that could be purchased (mua) cheaper in United States than in Europe, and the laws of trade (luật thương mại) are inflexible — “the longest pole knocks down the most persimmons."

"Climb the greasy pole" nghĩa là gì?

Bạn có đang ước mơ về nó? Photo by Gerd Altmann from Pexels

"(Climb) the greasy pole" = leo cột mỡ -> nghĩa là con đường khó khăn/vất vả để được thăng tiến trong sự nghiệp.

Ví dụ
School assembly guests are usually a pretty dry bunch (bầy, lũ): ex-pupils who’ve climbed up the greasy pole of their career, policemen with lectures (bài giảng) about avoiding deep water or men with sweets, vicars (cha sở).

At school, most of us dream of a career that’s not only fulfilling (thỏa mãn) but financially (tài chính) rewarding too. But while a handful (một ít) of lucky souls will climb the greasy pole of success, most of us will be content (hài lòng) with a job that pays the bills while we daydream what might have been if only we’d concentrated (tập trung) a bit more in lessons.

There is a view that the articles politicians (chính trị gia) write when they are far from office (or the prospect (toàn cảnh) of it) are the truest representation (đại diện chân thực nhất) of their core beliefs (niềm tin cốt lõi). Unfettered (được giải phóng) by ambition (tham vọng) to climb the greasy pole, they say whatever they want, whatever springs to mind when the comment desk is badgering (quấy rầy) them to pay at least some minimum regard to deadlines.

"The length and breadth of" nghĩa là gì?

Một chút chill cho ngày nắng đẹp Photo by Daria Shevtsova from Pexels

'The length and breadth of something' = chiều dài và chiều rộng của cái gì đó -> toàn bộ khu vực, không gian của cái gì; toàn bộ nơi nào đó.

Ví dụ
Three years back, it was a high-voltage campaign across the length and breadth of politically crucial Uttar Pradesh, as the Bharatiya Janata Party sought to return to power after a prolonged period of 26 years.

“The growth in the economy in 2019, although modest, is welcome. However, we are living in unprecedented times and I am acutely aware that COVID-19 is already having challenging implications for businesses the length and breadth of the country.

South African universities are home to thousands of students who come from across the length and breadth of the country. A considerable percentage of students at these institutions also come from different parts of the world. If South Africa is going to effectively curb the spread of the coronavirus, which the World Health Organisation has declared as a ‘global pandemic’, specific measures and interventions need to be put in place at our universities as part of the national response.

"At opposite poles" nghĩa là gì?

Kẻ thù không đội trời chung. Photo by Scott 97006

"At opposite poles" = ở hai cực đối lập -> ý kiến, quan điểm đối lập hoặc hai phe đối lập (chính trị).

Ví dụ
In recent months, Cannizzaro and Williams, both Democrats, have made public statements (tuyên bố) and policy proposals (đề xuất chính sách) that seem designed to position themselves at opposite poles.

Most likely, the set of elections (cuộc bầu cử), in which about one-third of delegates (đại biểu) will be awarded, will culminate (lên đến đỉnh điểm) in a grouping of Democratic (Đảng Dân chủ) voters around opposite poles — progressives (tiến tới) to Sanders and moderates (tiết chế) to Biden.

“This movement is confronting (đối mặt) an identity crisis (khủng hoảng) and it’s not just the mild sort of growing pains,” said the Asian American theologian (chuyên gia thần học), noting the country’s deep divides (chia rẽ sâu sắc), because of which people on opposite poles of the political spectrum (phân bổ chính trị) sometimes can’t even talk to each other.

"Within the bounds of possibility" nghĩa là gì?

Ơ, sao có thể Photo by Simon Simberg from Pexels

'Within the bounds of possibility' = trong ranh giới có khả năng, có thể làm gì.

Ví dụ
It comes to us from the renowned Cole Porter, who has created the best music and lyrics within the bounds of possibility.

However, TCL is still some way away from a launch or a price for either of these new prototypes. Then again, it may be enough to know that they are within the bounds of possibility at this point.

Despite an earthquake (động đất) or two in recent years and some spam-fisted development that has impinged on (chạm đến, vi phạm) the ancient capital’s authenticity, it’s still well within the bounds of possibility to wander off and totally immerse yourself in what is undoubtedly one of the architectural marvels of Asia.
Those are truly extraordinary (đặc biệt, bất thường) figures. So extraordinary in fact that it is well within the bounds of possibility and in-built polling error that another election would see Sinn Fein not only confirm its present position as the largest party in the Republic, but maybe also larger than Fianna Fail and Fine Gael combined.

"Pole dancing" nghĩa là gì?

Đây là một loại hình nghệ thuật, quyến rũ và cũng rất khó. Photo by Lieven SOETE

"Pole dancing" = múa cột. "Pole dancer" là vũ công múa cột.

Ví dụ
If I spent that much time learning how to pole dance I would be pole dancing every chance I get.

It's Friday afternoon, and 12 people are gathered (tập trung) in a pole dancing class in Washington, D.C.

Tejasswi has now taken to pole dancing and is learning the basics of the art form (loại hình nghệ thuật). She gave her fans a sneak peek (xem trước) of her moves through videos on her social media account.

Pole dancing is a slippery (nan giải) topic. Some say we must forget the burlesque stereotype (khuôn mẫu hài kịch dâm tục). Others say its risqué (khêu gợi) origins must be embraced – and not to do so is offensive (gây khó chịu) to pole pioneers (người tiên phong).

"Smoke signals" nghĩa là gì?

Trước khi có pháo sáng, người ta sẽ đốt củi lửa để tạo khói báo hiệu. Photo by eberhard grossgasteiger from Pexels

"Smoke signals" = dấu hiệu có khói -> dấu hiệu cho thấy điều gì có sắp xảy ra. "Smoke signals" là những cột khói mà dân bộ lạc dùng để truyền thông báo cho những nơi khác biết về điều gì.

Ví dụ
Whatever Chris decides (quyết định) to do, he’ll come to me as decades have passed like Bill Polian used to come to me, we’ll put out some smoke signals that will intended to be misread (hiểu sai) and we’ll quietly make the pick and see what happens.

Just when everyone expects Denver Broncos' GM John Elway to zig, he zags. With all eyes on the Broncos' smoke signals around free-agent defensive (phòng thủ tư do) linemen like Houston's D.J. Reader, Elway instead prioritized (ưu tiên) the offensive (tấn công) line.

For the first time, the answer to that question is far from obvious (rõ ràng) amid a never-ending cacophony (không hòa hợp) of conflicting rumors (tin đồn mâu thuẫn). Toss in any number of opaque (mờ mịt) social media smoke signals from Brady, and it quickly becomes difficult to discern (thấy rõ) fact from fiction.

"Smoke out" nghĩa là gì?

Không ngầu đâu chú ơi! Photo by Ahe from Pexels

"Smoke out (of)" = khói bay ra, nhả khói bay ra khỏi (nơi nào). Nghĩa bóng là khiến ai/điều gì được chú ý.

Ví dụ
Medicago, which has Durham plant (nhà máy), developing vaccine that could smoke out coronavirus.

According to the Duluth Fire Department they arrived on scene (hiện trường) at 8:03 p.m on Wednesday. When they arrived smoke they saw heavy smoke out of a 24 unit garage.

If you started smoking because you thought it might be nice, then to turn round later and claim that you smoke out of some kind of self-loathing (ghê tởm bản thân) makes no sense.

"Start smoking out of your own devices and stop sharing mouthpieces (miệng ống) with others — not just because of COVID-19, but because of germs (mầm bệnh) and viruses that cause colds, flus and other sicknesses, too," Herbert Fuego shared in a recent Ask a Stoner column.

"Smoke pole" nghĩa là gì?

"Smoke pole" là loại súng cầm tay (súng trường, súng lục...).

Ví dụ
If you’re looking for a challenge reminiscent (gợi nhớ) of early American settlers (người khai hoang) then the traditional smokepole is the choice.

I’ve written about this smokepole before, in “Hunting with Phoenix” and “Phoenix and Beyond: Muzzleloader Hunting With New and Old Rifles.” This was my late father’s rifle (súng trường có nòng xẻ rãnh xoắn), and as with most special guns, there’s a good story behind it.

Most American firearms (các loại súng) were being made in factories by 1850 and the early American gunsmiths (người làm súng) began to disappear. Many names are used when referring to muzzleloaders (súng hỏa mai). Black powder rifles and smokepoles are two of those names associated with muzzleloaders.

"Blow smoke" = thổi khói, nhả khói. Nghĩa khác là hút cần sa; lừa dối, che dấu sự thật. "Blow smoke up one's ass" (tiếng lóng Anh Mỹ) nghĩa là cố tình lừa, nói dối ai.

Ví dụ
"They have a good group of kids over there right now, and I’m not trying to blow smoke, but they have a chance to be good right away,” he said.

“Joel’s finished although he’ll probably be the last one to realize (nhận ra) it,” said Ingham County Commissioner Thomas Morgan. “In the meantime, there are plenty of vultures (kền kền) around willing to take his dirty money and blow smoke up his ass from now until the convention (hội nghị).”

That was 2012, so eight years … I don't want to blow smoke up Norm's ass, but when you've been buying a man's records (bản thu), been to Brighton to the big Beach festival (lễ hội), been one of those 200,000 people while he's a little dot on the stage (sân khấu) DJing – then you warm it up for him and chat to him, and he's actually a really quite sound (khỏe mạnh) guy.

"Chain smoke" nghĩa là gì?

"Chain smoke" theo đúng nghĩa đen là hút thuốc lá liên tục, hết điếu này đến điếu khác -> người nghiện thuốc lá.

Ví dụ
"In November 2016 while working at a local company, I complained (phàn nàn) to my employer (chủ) about my co-workers chain smoking and asked to be placed with someone who did not smoke as much,” Leslie Goodman said at the March 9 meeting.

Higgins’ days as a chain-smoking gunslinger (tay súng) were numbered. He squandered (tiêu tốn) millions of pounds of prize money and his final years were spent fighting throat cancer (ung thư vòm họng) and hustling (xoay xở) for money to feed his betting habit (thói quen cá cược).

Looking back, I started properly smoking when my mum was dying of cancer. I chain smoked outside the hospice (nhà tế bần). Those cigarettes were my friends. They offered me comfort. A few moments of tranquility (yên bình), where I could switch off from thinking about the impending trauma (tổn thương) ahead.

"Smoke eater" nghĩa là gì?

"Smoke eater" = người ăn khói -> thiết bị lọc/loại bỏ khói. Tiếng lóng nghĩa là lính cứu hỏa (bộ phận phải dùng thiết bị thở).

Ví dụ
The 84-year-old former smoke eater was sedated (an thần) and on a respirator (máy hô hấp nhân tạo) at South Nassau Medical Center in Long Island on Saturday, a day after being diagnosed (chuẩn đoán) with COVID-19.

Home Smoke Eaters come in a variety of styles and options. A home smoke eater can remove cigar and cigarette odors (mùi thuốc lá) from the air and reduce the foul (hôi thối), stale (cũ, ôi) odors that accompany tobacco (thuốc lá) smoke.

In Brooklyn, 35 firefighters (lính cứu hỏa) are under quarantine (cách ly kiểm dịch) after working alongside a smoke-eater who tested positive (dương tính), but not one of those firefighters has received a test because they are not showing symptoms (triệu chứng).

"Willful ignorance" nghĩa là gì?

Photo by: Taras Chernus on Unsplash

"Willful ignorance" -> nghĩa là cố tình phớt lờ điều biết chắc là đúng.

Ví dụ
For those of you who are frustrated (nản lòng) you’re being asked to stay in, the McCalls say this. “A week ago, it is absolutely defendable that you do not know that,” said Perry McCall. "If you do not know it now, it is willful ignorance or worse: willful disregard (không quan tâm, phớt lờ) to humanity,”

It’s standard operating procedure in politics these days to deride (nhạo báng) bold policy reform as “pie-in-the-sky,” or a “pipe-dream.” This requires a willful ignorance of the fact that visionary policy, driven and shaped by grassroot (người dân) movements, has always been the engine that moves our democracy forward.

Willful ignorance can be the most dangerous. An example is how Trumpublican senators ignored facts and acquitted Trump, as if that exonerated (miễn) him. Instead it gives him more latitude (phạm vi rộng) for his terrible decisions, such as are reflected in his 2021 budget proposal.

The majority of dog people even said they would include their dog in family moments like marriage proposals (cầu hôn), holiday cards, and vacations.

"Get one up on" nghĩa là gì?

"Get one up on (someone or something)" = Giành được lợi thế/quyền lợi so với ai/cái gì.

Ví dụ
“There is never any hard feelings (không buồn phiền chi cả). When we train we’re really competitive and want to get one up on each other but as soon as the whistle goes at the end of training, we’re really good mates again having a coffee and having a laugh. It’s a really good environment.”

'Now I am so dialled-in on what I need to do for the team to be successful and that's a big, big part of why I've had to work so hard, because my ego used to rule me. 'I always had to get one up on people or confront people but now if you target me, that is wasting energy.' Sinckler spoke about how much he owes to Eddie Jones for not losing patience with him.

In “Chapter Seventy-Two: To Die For,” written by showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and directed by Shannon Kohli, things are picking up where we left off, with Jughead’s seemingly dead body in possession of the Riverdale PD — and Jughead’s father, FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich) on the warpath (đánh nhau, ẩu đả nhau). Betty gave up Jughead’s body in order to get one up on the Stonewall Prep squad, specifically two devious students named Bret Weston Wallis (Sean Depner) and Donna Sweett (Sarah Desjardins). It was a surprising move because all the evidence points to Betty and her friends, not to Bret or Donna (even if they’re probably responsible).

"Get shot of (someone or something)" = Bắn ai/cái gì một phát -> Từ bỏ, tránh xa, thoát khỏi ai/cái gì.

Ví dụ
The popular politician, who was key to brokering (môi giới) the new Stormont deal, was banished to the backbenches (thành viên không quan trọng trong nghị viện Anh) last week in a bruising Cabinet reshuffle (sự cải tổ nhân sự). Rumours had been rife (lan tràn, hoành hành) that Prime Minister Boris Johnson might get shot of the Secretary of State.

Further to your meeting with Southall, May I ask what is going to happen to the flat hired by ? “the club” should get shot of it even if it means sub letting. the club cannot afford it, it is as simple as that.. also a set of Range Rover cars ? how many. we cannot afford that. Can anyone tell us who has the upper hand legally between the two parties? one of them we have been told is a ex estate agent with a different name, So far these allegations are unproved.

"Get on your soapbox" nghĩa là gì?

"Get on (one's) soapbox (hộp đựng xà phòng, bài diễn thuyết ở ngoài phố)" = Phát biểu/bày tỏ mạnh mẽ quan điểm, ý kiến của mình về một vấn đề.

Ví dụ
'And it's not repulsive (ghê tởm, đáng ghét, chống cự). We in Britain tend to shy away from that. There's ageism (chủ nghĩa phân biệt tuổi tác) involved there. And - I'm going to get on my soapbox here - I believe that exists in this industry in our country.'

This year’s conference brings back the popular soapbox for those who want to have their say on a topic of their choosing. The premise (giả thuyết, tiền đề) is that you get five minutes to get on your soapbox and make your case for why a particular law should be changed. Anyone with a weekend or Sunday ticket is welcome to apply by submitting a short outline argument (maximum of 200 words). See social media and website for further information.

The crux (vấn đề nan giải) of their argument is that even though there might be a clear right course of action in a societal context, right becomes a lot murkier when taking into account what’s personally at stake for a victim. Chances are she won’t be believed, and she’ll probably lose her job, some friends, her “good” reputation, etc. It’s easy—but problematic—to get on your soapbox and say, “just do what’s right” when you’ve nothing to lose personally, and that’s what this episode demonstrates so well.

"Get in on the act" nghĩa là gì?

"Get in on the act" = Lên kế hoạch hành động -> Tận dụng/lợi dụng cái mà người khác đã làm/đã khởi xướng để có thành công tương tự.

Ví dụ
Certainly the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, which is responsible for health care, will want to get in on the act. It’s already issued one lengthy statement on the coronavirus pandemic, and once it begins to ebb, they’re likely feel the need to say something about its lessons and implications.

"The enterprise software market in China is lagging the US by at least 10 years. It has a long way to go in terms of market acceptance and willingness to pay," said Eric Ye, co-founding partner of Eminence Ventures, a Shanghai-based investment firm focused on the industry. "The Chinese giants want to do everything. If they have found one area where the business model is proven, everybody wants to get in on the act, copying and competing with each other."

First and foremost, we need to address the current state of things. With E3 cancelled, there is a legion of companies looking for a platform to showcase their games. Any company that is currently in the business of hosting announcement streams should have a buyer’s market to choose from. Looking at you Sony and Nintendo. I would expect to see a few more Sony State of Play and Nintendo Directs announced over the next month. Microsoft should also take this as an opportunity to get in on the act.

"Be out to get" nghĩa là gì?

"Be out to get (one)" = Ra ngoài để bắt ai -> Tìm cơ hội/mọi cách và quyết tâm trừng phạt, hãm hại hay làm nhục ai.

Ví dụ
POWER season six returns to television screens in early January with fans desperate to know who shot Ghost, also known as rich businessman and club owner James St Patrick. There are several suspects but one fan thinks Angela Valdes, Ghost’s lover, may have survived her fatal shooting in season five and be out to get him.

In his 2014 autobiography (tự truyện), legendary British comedian John Cleese suggests that while some people are “paranoid” (người mắc bệnh hoang tưởng) — they believe without evidence that people hate them and are out to get them — other people are instead “pronoid,” a word he borrowed from oncologist (bác sĩ chuyên khoa ung thư) and comedian Rob Buckman.

Brianna and Marsali have some contact in season five after not interacting much previously. Outlander fans will see the two of them developing a firm friendship as Brianna continues to struggle with her sexual assault, particularly after learning Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) is still alive and could be out to get her and baby Jemmy. The latest episode of Outlander saw Brianna and Marsali bonding after she thought Bonnet had kidnapped (bắt cóc) her son from the house.
